Lash Extension Aftercare Touch-Ups & Maintenance
When it comes to caring for your lash extensions, you want to be thorough! This will help make sure you have lasting, worthwhile results. You want to avoid getting them wet for about two days after getting them while avoiding touching your eyes. Every 3 days, cleanse them gently with an eyelash cleanser every 3 days, brush them with a special brush every morning, avoid using oily products around your eyes, and try not to sleep on your face. Every couple of weeks, (three if you’re taking good care of them) you will want to come in for touch-ups.
Lash Extension Application Process
When lash extensions are applied, an adhesive is used to place them one by one. The adhesive used is designed to prevent irritation to your natural lash line, and they are attached to the lashes already present rather than being attached to the skin itself. Of course, the entire process can vary from salon to salon, but the general guidelines to expect follow preparation, cleaning, tape/gel to keep the eyelid closed, and the lashes separated- then the actual application, and allowing the adhesive to dry. In preparing the lash tech should ask you if you have any allergies or health conditions and any contacts will be removed. The type of lash, length, and curl will be discussed, and the stylist will overall get an idea of what you want to get. The area is cleaned with oil-free cleansers (you should consider arriving make-up free!), and the process begins. When the adhesive dries, it dries quickly. So your eyes need to stay closed during the entire process- only open them when given the okay.
